PLANO PIRATES STRIKE AGAIN
April 13 on Amesbury, more GM wheels were stolen from a Cadillac Escalade. Vehicle was left on two jacks and two landscape stones in front driveway. Police report increased thefts of this kind, particulary on GM SUV's. Three times this has happened in our neighborhood recently, with a fourth attempt that failed to steal a spare wheel and tire due to a cable and padlock. Keep watch for large trucks or SUV's that are unfamiliar, as that is what it would take to haul these wheels and tires away. I have heard a report of a suspicious silver large SUV in alleyways on three different occasions. Get license number if possible, and call 911. A resident did in this case.
Wheel locks are a must, and wheel alarm systems would be even better. Spare tires and pickup tailgates should also be locked. Crime is on the rise. Whether it is due to the economy, warm weather, or no fear of ramifications from the bad guys, please be alert and call Plano Police with suspicious activity. Also, let your neighbors and me know.

1. If someone comes to your door, acknowledge that you are home by using your intercom, turning on interior lights etc. You may not actually want to go to your door. Then call Plano Police at 911.
2. SUV wheels being stolen from driveways at night. If you have to leave your vehicle out, wheel locks are recommended, as well as other home security devices such as motion lights. There have been a few reports of wheel thefts in the area. Pickup truck spare tires and tailgates have also been targeted if not locked. Be cautious, or you might find your vehicle on cinder blocks in the morning.
3. House numbers over your garage doors. This is what Police suggest. Most homes have them, or had them, but many go missing after a house painting.
As summer and warm weather approaches, the bad guys seem to pick up the pace every year.
The good news, door-to-door solicitors have been seen less in our neighborhood.
Don't forget to let me know of things so I can spread the word.
